Dog-Friendly Hotel Review | A Review of the Claridge House | Chicago

@minihuskyy, enjoying her stay at The Claridge House

Tucked away among the adorable townhomes in Chicago's Gold Coast Historical District is the newly renovated Claridge House Hotel. This chic, boutique hotel provides the opportunity to experience Chicago's upscale, residential side. Just steps away from fine dining, luxury shops, and the lake front, this is one dog-friendly hotel experience you don't want to miss.

How was the Check In?

The check-in process was great - the staff was extremely friendly and one of the hotel managers, Antonio, greeted us. They showed us around the extremely well decorated lobby and explained the lobby bar's (Juniper Spirits) specials (we will get to this a little later!).

How was the room?

The room was surprisingly large for a boutique hotel in one of Chicago's oldest areas of the city. Elegant decor provided a homey feel and a comfortable environment after a long day of exploring. The staff had also left us some snacks and drinks! (A nice perk that can sometimes be overlooked at larger hotel chains).

On a scale of 1 - dog-friendly, how dog-friendly is it?

The hotel was very welcoming to their furry guests! The staff was so excited to greet Maya and she was welcomed to make herself at home. She especially enjoyed the soft bedding, all the pets she received in the lobby, and a special surprise at the lobby bar!

Time for Yappy Hour!

The lobby bar, Juniper Spirits was by far our favorite part about this whole hotel. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating - we showed up with our entire family of 8 and got seated on the patio right away. They were attentive and made great recommendations off of the fabulous happy hour menu (half off wine karafs and oysters).

In addition to the human food, they offered a doggy menu! We were SO excited to try out every cocktail they had to offer. Maya, of course, takes after her mom and favored the Dogperignon.

Overall experience?

Our overall experience at the Claridge House was amazing. Gold Coast is the cutest area of Chicago if you're looking for a getaway without the constant rush of the downtown environment. While you aren't in the heat of the rush, you're still just steps away from the lake, shops, bars, and more! We are so excited to have experienced this gem of a hotel and can't wait to go back (especially for another yappy hour!!)
